I've utilized many of the sites that other posters have mentioned. I guess my biggest question is what kind of 'luck' has everyone had? I mean, I even had the opportunity to discuss a grant writing opportunity from Linked In, but it never panned out…
In addition to those mentioned, I would also look at the Chronicle of Philanthropy - there are sometimes grant specific positions listed. American Association of Grant Professionals also posts job listings at http://careers.grantprofessionals.org/se…
Have you tried Indeed.com? It posts jobs from a variety of sources and I've had pretty good luck there although I haven't found that elusive 4 day a week $100K job :). It will even send you updates when new grant writer jobs are posted.
Best regard…
I also find idealist.org to be the best. Sometimes AFP has listings as well. You can set up RSS feeds for both so they feed right into Google Reader or whatever reader you use.
I agree with looking on Idealist for non-profit job openings. Also try simplyhired,.com, an aggregator site. The Ladders specializes in 100k+ jobs, but it costs money.
I know Melanie already mentioned indeed.com but I thought I would mention something else about this same site. I have a search saved at this site and it emails me the results weekly (I think you can change the frequency). The cool thing about indeed…
Another Craigs List search engine that I learned about yesterday is http://www.allofcraigs.com/
I would be very careful about the 'wanted grant writer' requests on Craigs List - many seem desperate and others are questionable. There a few that seem…
There are a number of grant writer ads on Craigs List. I suggest you use a Craigs List search engine called CRAIG LOOK found at: http://craiglook.com/
To do a national search do not enter an area name or zip code.
You can find some grant writer positions on Hot Jobs, though you have to wade through a lot of spam postings. I would recommend Idealist.org.
If you are not already a member of the For GrantWriters Only LinkedIn group, you may want to join. I list…
I have tried Monster and Career Builder with little success. I had a interview with a very large organization last Monday in Des Moines but it was a 60/40 position with the 60 being grant writing and the 40 being something that I wasn't qualified ad…
I was taking a course on Cultural Anthropology-Ojibwa Indians, which culminated with a canoe trip to the woods of Northern Minnesota. The trip was one week long so we all got to know each other well. My professor taught sociology and is one of the p…
Times right now stink! The money pool has dried up but if there is a silver lining it is this. We have become more diligent in searching for lesser known private and public foundations. Out of necessity, we must dig deeper for less money. I think th…

What are your specialties?
Passion. I only write for organizations that have it as well as the skill sets and organization to apply it effectually. I can go through the motions if I am required but let's face it, we entered the field of grant writing to make a difference. I enjoy small non-profits, grassroots ideas, and single individuals with great ideas. I have no doubt that the number of pro bono hours that I have committed over the last five years is much higher than the number of paid. The downside to that is that many paying clients became pro bono work once the economy went to ruin.
How long have you been a grant writer?
4-5 years
Are you a part-time or full-time grant writer?
Full Time Grant Writer
Are you a member of any fundraising organizations?
No, but I am unsure of what is out there in terms of legit organizations.
What is your greatest challenge in obtaining grants?
1.Trying to explain to the client that their program is a square and the granting organization will only considered round pegs to fit their round holes.
2. Beginning with all of the necessary information & data that is required to put forth a good grant effort. I find most organizations wait until the last minute to supply me with this type material.
