Amount of Work Right Now?

I'd like to know how much grant writing work the folks here on FGWO are seeing right now? I am trying to decide if I want to dip my toes back into grant writing consulting again, but I'm admittedly a bit skittish about the economy right now. Also seeing quite a few people advertising that they will pay grant writers via "contingency." I get so irritated at people wanting grant writing services but not willing to pay for the actual work. Though I digress, I wish organizations like the AFP and whatnot would do some education about this with nonprofit organizations.
